Family Histories

Interest in genealogy is very high, and assistance with our contacts’ efforts constitutes a large part of the work of the Iron Range Historical Society and is very much appreciated by our patrons. The Iron Range Historical Society owns directories of people who lived in the larger Iron Range cities from 1899 (the first ever printed) to recent times. These have valuable information for family historians.

Thousands of Iron Range obituaries unique to the Iron Range Historical Society have been alphabetized, mounted in binders and cataloged by year for easy access by genealogists and family historians.

Our Society also owns at least 70 Iron Range family histories donated by individuals. These include the biographies of some prominent local residents. These are also available to researchers unless they are restricted by the family.
